1. General information

FPDP will organize the 9 th Annual Meeting on 19.-21.8.2015, as a cruise Helsinki-Stockholm-Helsinki. The meeting will focus on “The Future of Pharma”. All graduate students and supervisors from the FPDP sections (Clinical Drug Research, Drug Discovery, Pharmacy and Toxicology) and FPDP partners/collaborators are invited to participate in the Annual Meeting. Members in the Doctoral progam in drug research in the University of Helsinki, Turku and Eastern Finland are automatically FPDP members.

The meeting will consist of lectures, three-minute-thesis presentation sessions and the FPDP Student Council will organize informal evening program on both evenings of the cruise. All attendees are encouraged to participate!

2. Three minute thesis preparation and submission info

All participating doctoral students need to prepare one slide for their presentation. The aim of the presentation is to explain the overall thesis research project to a non-specialist audience in three minutes. The student council will collect the presentations in groups of similar topics or disciplines to be presented before question/discussion time.

The presentation (draft) slide with name of the presenter, topic and discipline should be submitted in .PPT format by e-mail to Coordinator Eeva Valve (eeva.valve@ utu.fi) and student council (fpdp-studentcouncil@ helsinki.fi) by 12.8.2015.

The best presentations will be awarded (see Rules and judging criteria) and by voting people’s choice. Student council and Clare Strachan will inform about the details of the presentations.

3. Venue and traveling

Public transportation in capital area to Biomedicum Helsinki: Timetables etc.

Reimbursements for travel costs can be sought from the FPDP sections. Costs of travel by train / bus / airplane (the very cheap prices) and accommodation will be supported.

Bus transportation from / to Kuopio will be organized and is free for FPDP Doctoral Students and FPDP Supervisors. Preliminary departure is at 7 o’clock beside Canthia on Wednesday. Detailed info will be published later.

FPDP sponsored accommodation will be a shared 2-4 person in A or B class cabin.

5. Accommodation in Helsinki

Helsinki region accommodation.

6. Participation fee

The meeting is free of charge for all FPDP Doctoral students, their supervisors and FPDP partners. Students outside FPDP are also welcome to participate. The cruise has been reserved for 60 persons. In case number of interested doctoral candidates exceeds the amount of reservation, early stage doctoral candidates are preferred.

Two breakfast and two dinners on board will free of charge for the participants. Also, some free refreshments will be served.

7. Credits, certificates and feedback

FPDP – 9 th Annual Joint Meeting will correspond 1,5 ECTS credits (participation and three minute presentation).

Certificate of Participation will be provided by request.

Feedback will be collected after the meeting.
